What is PRP Therapy?

Platelet-Rich Plasma is a concentrated preparation of your own blood. Platelets are rich in growth factors and signalling proteins that play a critical role in the body’s natural healing response. By injecting a high concentration of these platelets directly into the site of injury under precise ultrasound guidance, we can "jump-start" the repair process in tissues that have poor natural healing capacity.

Advanced Healing with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Harnessing your body’s natural healing potential to treat tendon injuries and joint degeneration.

At Orthopaedic Injection Clinic, we are proud to introduce Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections to our suite of ultrasound-guided treatments. PRP is an innovative, evidence-based regenerative therapy designed to accelerate tissue repair and provide long-term relief for chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Conditions We Treat with PRP

Our clinic provides targeted PRP therapy for patients experiencing:

Tendonpathies & Chronic Tendonitis:

Effective for persistent pain in the Achilles, patellar (jumper's knee), tennis elbows, trochanteric and rotator cuff tendons where traditional treatments have failed.

Partial Tendon Tears:

Helping to bridge the gap in minor structural tears by promoting collagen synthesis and tissue regeneration.

Mild to Moderate Osteoarthritis:

Particularly effective for knee and hip arthritis, PRP can help reduce inflammation, improve joint lubrication, and delay the progression of wear and tear.

WHY OUR PRP IS THE BEST?

Advanced regenerative therapy designed to support healing, reduce pain and restore movement with precision-guided care.

Exceptional Quality

Highest and best quality of PRP in a tailored dose for each individual patient.

Precision Guidance:

Like all our treatments, PRP is administered using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology. This ensures the plasma is delivered exactly into the damaged area of the tendon or joint space for maximum efficacy.

Expert Led:

Your procedure is performed by our highly trained orthopaedic doctor, ensuring your treatment is grounded in surgical-grade anatomical knowledge.

Natural & Safe:

Because PRP uses your own blood, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.

We are here for your care

Our Technology: The Arthrex Advantage

At Orthopaedic Injection Clinic, we don't believe all PRP is created equal. The clinical success of PRP therapy is heavily dependent on the concentration and quality of the platelets being delivered. To ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care, we utilize the industry-leading Arthrex ACP® and ACP Max™ kits.

Why Arthrex ACP Max?

The Arthrex ACP (Autologous Conditioned Plasma) system is a world-renowned closed-loop technology that produces a "pure" PRP. While many generic systems result in a high concentration of red blood cells and neutrophils (which can cause unwanted post-injection inflammation), the Arthrex system is specifically designed to minimize these while maximizing the healing components.

Super High-Quality Platelet Concentrations

For more complex cases, such as chronic tendon tears or advanced osteoarthritis, we utilize the ACP Max™ system. This represents the "Gold Standard" in regenerative medicine due to its superior processing capabilities:

7x to 12x Concentration:

While standard PRP systems typically offer a concentration of only 2 to 3 times that of whole blood, the ACP Max™ system provides a platelet concentration up to 12 times higher than baseline.

Single-Injection Efficacy:

Because of this high-potency formula, many patients achieve significant clinical results with just a single injection, whereas lower-quality systems often require a series of 3 to 5 injections to achieve a similar therapeutic dose.

Leukocyte-Poor Formula:

Our system specifically targets a "leukocyte-poor" result, reducing the risk of pain and flare-ups after the procedure and focusing purely on tissue regeneration.

Massive Platelet Dose:

A single ACP Max™ treatment can deliver a potent dose of 5 to 12 billion platelets.

The Clinical Difference

By utilizing Arthrex technology, we provide our patients with more growth factors per injection. This leads to:

  1. Faster recovery times.
  2. More durable long-term relief.
  3. Superior results for chronic, difficult-to-treat conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

We provide advanced, ultrasound-guided injections for joint, tendon, and bursal pain. Common areas treated include the knee, hip, foot/ ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist/ hand and related soft tissue pains.

If you have persistent joint or tendon pain (for example, ongoing knee pain that hasn’t improved with rest, physiotherapy, or medication), you may benefit from an injection. An initial consultation helps us determine if this treatment is suitable for you. Speaking to your GP would be ideal to get a referral.

Yes. Many patients choose our clinic to avoid long wait times. Our image-guided injections can provide faster pain relief and help you stay active while you wait for surgery or further treatment.

Yes. Using ultrasound allows us to see exactly where the medicine is being delivered. This improves accuracy, reduces discomfort, and often provides better results compared to “blind” injections. It is purely evidence based (level 1) after multiple clinical trials and meta-analysis.

We offer cortisone (steroid) injections, hyaluronic acid (lubrication), and other advanced injection therapies. The best choice depends on your condition and medical history. We will be adding PRP shortly to the list of offered injections.

Relief may start within a few days for cortisone injections, while hyaluronic acid or PRP may take several weeks to show results. Your doctor will explain what to expect based on the type of injection.

PRP injections work differently than cortisone; they promote biological repair. While the onset of relief may take 4–6 weeks, the benefits are often more durable and long-lasting as the tissue undergoes actual healing.

Injections can provide significant relief and may delay or even avoid surgery for some patients. For others, they act as a bridge to help manage pain until surgery is appropriate.

All medical procedures carry some risk. Side effects may include temporary pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Serious complications are rare, and our use of ultrasound guidance minimises risk. Once you have made an appointment, we will send you the patient information and the consent form for you through email.

We understand that living with pain can’t wait. Our clinic aims to provide timely appointments, often much faster than mainstream radiology practices and hospital waiting lists, so you can get relief sooner. Usually, appointments with us are available with in a week.
